Fediane Islam messaged Geo Television to claim responsibility.

Islamabad: An unknown organisation calling itself Fediane Islam has taken responsibility for the powerful suicide bombing at the Hotel Marriott in Islamabad.

Fifty-three people including the Czech Republic's ambassador and two US marines were killed and 250 were injured in the Saturday evening blast.

The Geo television on Monday said that it had received a text message on the cell phone of one of their correspondents from the organisation.

"When the correspondent contacted on that number the recording said that Fediane Islam had detonated explosive at the Marriott Hotel," said a Geo correspondent.

The correspondent added that the accent of the recorded message is Asian and he was speaking in English.

However, the TV channel's administration said that it would not broadcast the message due to the security reasons.

When contacted, an Interior Ministry official said that he had never heard this name before and neither was it on the ministry records.

Earlier, a probe committee submitted its report to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani.

An official said that according to the report, the terrorist's target was the Prime Minister's house where all top officials including President Asif Ali Zardari, chiefs of military services, provincial governors, chief ministers and other high ranking officials were present for the iftar dinner.
