Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday carried out simultaneous raids on the houses of a junior clerk in the Health department in Sundargarh district and unearthed properties to the tune of Rs 1.66 crore.
Sambalpur-based Vigilance SP Manoranjan Panda said Narayan Routray, who is working as junior clerk at the office of Chief District Medical Officer in Sundargarh, was found to have possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Vigilance sources said the raids were carried out at Routray’s residences at Talashankara area in Sundargarh. Routray’s brother’s house at Maheshdihi and his office in Sundargarh were also raided.
Vigilance estimated his five tippers, two lorries, one four-wheeler and two two-wheelers at more than Rs 1.28 crore. Similarly, his landed properties, including three buildings and five plots, were valued at over Rs 22.75 lakh. His bank and insurance deposits were worth Rs 9 lakh and gold, silver ornaments and household articles were valued at Rs 5 lakh. An amount of Rs 42,415 in cash was also recovered from his house.
