Bhiwani: Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vijender Singh tied the knot on May 17 with Delhi girl Archana Singh, who he says supported him even when he wasn't the star that he is now. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi attended the wedding.
Vijender also made the announcement while talking to reporters in New Delhi on Sunday morning.
"There is an engagement ceremony on May 16 at our village Kulawas and the marriage will be solemnized in New Delhi on May 17. There will be a big reception at our village on May 18. However, it would be a private affair and only select guests would attend it," said, Vijender's relative.
"Archana works in New Delhi and hails from Muzaffarnagar (in Uttar Pradesh)," he added.
Archana works with the British High Commission in New Delhi and both families have known each other for the last three-four months.
Vijender returned from Australia Sunday after participating in the Arafura International Boxing Competition, where he won the bronze in the 81-kg category.
Vijender (25), who had won the gold at last year's Asian Games, had earlier refuted reports about his marriage.
