New Delhi: Even as there was no overnight firing reported along the Line of Control separating India and Pakistan, the tension remains. The villages along the Line of Control have been restless and its residents are living in fear.
IBN7 visited some villages on the LoC to find out about the condition there. One such village is Dallan in Poonch. Dallan is surrounded by three Pakistani posts and ceasefire is regularly violated in the area. The village is not connected through road and the only way to reach involved a steep climb.
Even though the LoC continues to be tense, the scene in the village is very different. Children are regularly attending the school. When the children were asked about the firing incidents they replied that even though they are scared and feared for their life, they would continue to come to the school.
Several villagers have been killed over the year in the firing by Pakistan. Many of them have also left the village for safer places. But those who have stayed behind are forced to live under constant fear of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, which may lead to death of their children and destroy their houses.
The village is situated at a height of 10,000 feet, temperature plummets to minus 15 degree Celsius, and 10 feet of snow covers the area. But there is no let up in the patrolling by the Indian Army.
Army intelligence says that 2000-2500 terrorists are hiding on the Pakistani side of the LoC, ready to infiltrate into India.
