VS kicks up yet another row

KOCHI: Kicking up yet another row with a controversial remark, Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Sunday said that former CPM leader ‘Sindhu Joy’s fate in the Congress is similar to that of an over exploited-then-discarded harlot’.Speaking to reporters here, the Opposition Leader alleged that Sindhu Joy was used by the UDF during the Parliament polls.“Now, where is that Sindhu Joy whom the UDF bought? In the same way, Selvaraj has also been bought by the UDF,” he said.Terming Kerala Congress Leader and Govt Chief Whip P C George as Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s agent, VS said George was a person who backstabs his own party.His remarks invited severe criticism from all corners including his own party leaders. CPM leader T N Seema MP said that Achuthanandan shouldn’t have made such a comment.With his remark drawing flak from several corners, Achuthanandan corrected his statement. He said that his statement was misinterpreted and that the criticism was aimed at the Congress.Speaking to reporters in the evening, Achuthanandan said Congress threw away Sindhu Joy after using her for elections.“The criticism was against the Congress culture. After using her for the Parliament and Assembly polls, Congress simply threw her away. But it was not the same when she was working with the CPM,” he said adding that he mentioned the name of Sindhu just to explain that Selvaraj would also face a similar fate.
