BANGALORE: For the welfare of senior citizens, a geriatrics centre will be launched at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMRCI, said Dr O S Siddappa, director-cum-dean, BMRCI.Speaking at a seminar on World Health Day, on the theme ‘Ageing and Health: Good Health Adds Life to Years,’ Siddappa said, “We have sent proposals to the state government and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences seeking their permission to open the centre.” The centre will also offer MD programme in geriatric medicine. “There are about 8 geriatric centres across the country. Doctors of BMRCI will be trained at these eight centres, he added.Siddappa adviced aged people not to worry about psychological problems and requested the younger generation to take care of their parents.
