CHENNAI: The task of authorising the party candidates to contest polls by issuing Form B has been messed up in many places leading to eleventh hour change of nominees, Youth Congress (YC) State president M Yuvaraja said here on Thursday.Speaking to reporters, Yuvaraja wanted the senior office-bearers to own up responsibility for last minute confusion and resultant changes in nominees for many civic bodies. On the expulsion of certain YC cadre on charges of indulging in unruly acts at Satyamurthi Bhavan, he said the YC leadership alone had the powers to do so and not the pradesh Congress president. “We will take up this issue with the AICC,” he said.Hitting out at Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Yuvaraja said she had been adopting double standards on several issues. In the Rajiv Gandhi death row convicts issue, the chief minister initially claimed that she had no powers to condone them. Subsequently, she passed a resolution in the Assembly urging the Centre to condone them. Similarly, in the Koodankulam row, Jayalalithaa reassured the people that the power plant was safe. She, however, changed her stance and wanted the Union government to halt the project till the misgivings of the people were dispelled.
