Youth escapes from police custody

CUTTACK:  A youth accused of human trafficking allegedly escaped from the custody of Sadar police station on Tuesday fuelling public anger in the region.   According to reports, villagers of Korakara had caught two youths Bhagirathi Nayak of Kishorenagar and Ajit Nayak of Biridi on Monday for allegedly enticing girls of the region through various allurements. The villagers had handed them over to Sadar police. But Ajit Nayak managed to escape from the police station on Tuesday under the pretext of answering nature’s call. Accusing the police of ulterior motives, the villagers questioned as to how the police allowed him to go outside unguarded.  While Bhagirathi has been forwarded to court,  a search for the escaped youth is on.
