BTS leader Kim Namjoon, better known as RM, has sparked rumours that he was in a relationship in his 20s and experienced an ugly break up. The rapper, who released his new album titled RPWP, dropped a song titled Nuts. The song featured what many believe to be hints of his bitter love and break up. The lyrics are emotional, leaving many fans to believe that Namjoon was badly hurt by the split. It is to note that Namjoonie has never dated anyone publicly.
“Every night, I write letters to my past self, With just a glass of whiskey, all the memories come pouring out, praying to a god I don’t even believe in So that you can move on from being my everything in your twenties," Namjoon wrote in the song before adding about how “love will inevitably fail, love is for the freaks."
In another portion of the song, Namjoon rapped, “I’ll sincerely wish for your happiness, even though you probably won’t believe me. It was a tough relationship, there’s a stigma on my chest. It’s called you, I can’t even believe we were together."
A BTS fan on X, who goes by the handle @myglight, noted that Namjoon had once said he wanted to get married. However, in recent years, he admitted his doubts about getting married and added that song ‘Nuts’ seemingly hints that he doesn’t want to get married due to a bad break up.
“Namjoon went from wanting a family to questioning marriage and not wanting kids probably because of this one relationship he had in his twenties that left a lasting impression on him… damn," the fan said, noting that the songs in Indigo, such as Change Pt 2, and songs in RPWP such as Nuts gave them the impression of a likely break up.
Many fans were also glad that Namjoon could move on from the relationship. “As the other tweet said it’s crazy that we basically know this, I’m glad he reached a state where he can express his life in art completely," a fan wrote. “The haircut and bleaching is so breakup coded. hugs to namjoon, hope everything’s better now," a fan decoded.
Namjoon is yet to react to these theories.
