Ever since the Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli wedding in Tuscany where the Phillauri star sported a Sabyasachi lehenga, there were strong rumours that Anushka had ended her friendship with one of Bollywood's most sought after designers, Manish Malhotra.
It began during the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil promotions, when Anushka posted a photo on her Instagram stating how difficult it was for her to shoot in a lehenga which approximately weighed 17 kgs. She wrote: "Wearing a 17 kg lehenga was indeed mushkil." In the post, however, she didn't credit the designer, to which Manish 'supposedly' took offence.
Later, the rumours grew stronger after the Jab Harry Met Sejal star chose to don Sabyasachi ensembles for her wedding and reception functions. In fact, even Virat did not opt for outfits by Manish at any of these functions.
Manish did not attend any of the two post-wedding bashes hosted by the couple. But now, the designer has spoken out in an interview that he is still good friends with Anushka.
Times Now quoted Manish as saying: "I don’t know where these rumors come from that we aren’t friends anymore. I have known Anushka since the time she was a model. I was around for her first film and we (also) just did Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Of course, we are friends! Unfortunately, when the reception was here (in Mumbai), I was in Dubai. She is a friend and she will always be a friend”.
Manish was also quick to add that Anushka had sported an outfit from his atelier at a recent event (Umang Mumbai Police Show 2018). He also announced that the two will be working together soon and that all the rumours were, well, just rumours.
