On The Great Indian Kapil Show, Aamir Khan talked about his life and his simple way of staying young. Kapil Sharma shared clips from behind the scenes where Aamir discussed his easy routine for looking good. When someone praised his youthful looks at 59, Aamir gave credit to his father’s good genes. He said he doesn’t do anything special, like working out or using face creams. In fact, he only learned about shampoo when he became an actor; before that, he used soap for everything. He admitted he’s lazy and only focuses on his body when a film requires it.

Aamir said, “Abba jaan’s genes were good and I don’t deserve any credit in this. I don’t work out and I don’t even apply any cream on my face. In fact, I got to know what a shampoo is when I became an actor, otherwise I used to use soap for everything. I don’t do a single thing to make myself look good. When a film comes, I work on my body for that film. I am very lazy. I don’t do anything.”

During the show, Aamir talked about not wanting to play Rancho in 3 Idiots at first. He was worried about being laughed at for being 44 and playing an 18-year-old. He told the director to cast younger actors, but the director insisted on him. “I wasn’t even doing 3 Idiots because I thought the public would laugh at me as I was turning 44 and I am playing the role of an 18-year-old boy. It would be weird. I told Raju (director Rajkumar Hirani) to take three youngsters but he was after me. I hadn’t worked with Raju till then. I was a big fan but the story he brought me, I was like how will I play this young character.”

Rajkumar Hirani directed 3 Idiots. It boasted a cast starring Sharman Joshi, R Madhavan, Kareena Kapoor and Boman Irani. 3 Idiots was produced on a budget of Rs 55 crore and ended up earning a total of Rs 400 crore at the box office. It became the highest-grossing film of 2009.
