Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar is the daughter of notable actors Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar. In a recent interview, the actress refuted the rumours of being the adopted daughter of the actors, saying that this is not something one needs to justify.
Famous for shows like Mirzapur and Guilty Minds, Shriya Pilgaonkar put all the rumours to rest regarding her birth. In a conversation with India Today, the actress reacted to an unusual piece of news written about her. Mentioning the article, which claimed that she is adopted, Shriya stated, “There was news going around out of nowhere that my parents had adopted me and that’s absolutely untrue.”
She continued saying that it is not something she needs to justify to the public. She added, “I’m not going to flash my birth certificate on Instagram to prove my point.” According to her, it was an amusing experience because it was simply not true.
Furthermore, she talked about relevancy in the industry, mentioning how she desires to be relevant for all the years ahead, and not just “in the moment”. “Relevancy means evolving and continuously learning as an actor,” added Shriya.
The actress is currently busy with the promotions of her latest OTT show The Broken News 2. The show is set to premiere on May 3, on the streaming platform Zee5. She will be seen sharing the screen space with Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat and Indraneil Sengupta.
Her last film was titled Dry Day, a comedy-drama released on December 22, 2023. It was directed by Saurabh Shukla and starred Jitendra Kumar, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Annu Kapoor in important roles. It was produced by Nikkhil Advani, Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani under the banner of Emmay Entertainment. The show is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
