Sai Tamhankar is one of the popular actresses of Indian cinema, predominantly acting in Marathi films. In her successful acting trajectory, Sai had some unpleasant experiences as well, one of them the casting couch approach. In an earlier interview with Miss Malini, the 38-year-old actress said that she had received a phone call regarding this a long time back.
According to the Bhakshak actress, a random person called her and said, “I have a film and all that but there is something. You’ll have to sleep with the director and the producer. Generally, you have to sleep with the hero as well but since it is you, I am saying producer and director,” and I said, “Why don’t you send your mom?”
“He went silent for 10 seconds. I told him that now you understood that you are not supposed to call me ever again and post that I hung up. That phone call never happened ever again. You should voice out everything you feel that is not right,” the actress added.
Starting her journey from the television serial Tuzyavina, Sai has embarked on a successful acting career by playing many unconventional roles. She has left an indelible mark on the audience with her acting credentials in the films Mimi, Pondicherry, City of Gold – Mumbai 1982: Ek Ankahee Kahani, etc. She last played the notable role of SSP Jasmeet Kaur in the film Bhakshak directed by Pulkit. Bhashak, which translates to predators or eaters, is based on true events, particularly the infamous Muzaffarpur shelter case. This case came into the public eye in 2018. In a medical examination, the sexual abuse of 34 out of 42 of the girls living at the shelter was confirmed.
Starring an ensemble star cast of actors like Bhumi Pednekar, Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastav and others, Bhakshak was released on February 9, 2024. This film won accolades for its acting prowess, writing, direction and many other aspects.
