Angrezi Medium Star Radhikka Madan Recalls Irrfan Khan's Last Words

Irrfan Khan left an indelible impact on the film industry. He delivered movies such as Maqbool, Life Of Pie and The Namesake. The actor’s last film was Angrezi Medium where Radhikka Madan played his daughter and their bond was much appreciated in the film. In a recent interview, the actress opened up on some precious moments she shared with the late actor and the last thing that Irrfan Khan said to her.

In a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Radhikka shared that it was after they finished the shooting that she was informed about Irrfan’s deteriorating health condition. She said that everyone on the set, including director Homi Adajania, was shielding her from the news as they were afraid it would impact her performance because she was new to the industry. While shooting their final scene together on the last day, she asked the actor for a selfie when Irrfan told her, “Are aapko hamesha mere saath yaad kara jaaega. (You will be known with me.)” Radhikka added, “That’s when I got to know that things are not well.”

Radhikka Madan also mentioned that while they were shooting the final scenes together, the late actor began to lose stamina and became mentally tired. The actress also stated that it was the first time she saw his eyes blank and was left perplexed. When she enquired about it, the director advised her to continue with her scene no matter what.

After his death, Radhikka also shared an emotional post recounting the experience while shooting with Irrfan. Her caption read, “We had created our own pool of memories, our own bubble where there were no words, silences spoke out loud where I was trying very hard not to be this ‘I wanna learn everything from you’ fan girl and he was unknowingly teaching me either about life or art every single day. To endless silent teachings and love, To this phenomenon people call Irrfan.”

Angrezi Medium explored the bond between a loving single father and his daughter, who dreams of studying abroad. The film shows her father’s efforts to financially support his daughter’s goals. The film also featured other actors such as Kareena Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Pankaj Tripathi, Deepak Dobriyal, Ranvir Shorey, and others. Angrezi Medium earned Irrfan Best Actor at the 66th Filmfare Awards posthumously.
