Houston: Veteran actor Anupam Kher has received an honorary citizenship of Texas state in the US after being conferred with a ‘Senate Proclamation’. 60-year-old Kher was honoured with the Senate Proclamation by the Texas state following a resounding success of the repeat show of his play ‘Mera Matlab Woh Nahin Tha’ in Houston and back to back shows in 14 other US cities and in Canada.
The document read: "The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognise Anupam Kher, who is being honoured by the South Asian Chambers of Commerce for his appointment as a United Nations ambassador and champion for gender equality". Overjoyed with the overwhelming crowd, cheer and standing ovation, Kher, who is touring the US and Canada for the play, said, "I feel happy and humbled for such an amazing crowd and appreciation."
