The film was directed by Mukesh Bhatt and produced by Yash Johar. As per the media reports, when the film was in the post-production work, Sridevi saw the work and realised that her on-screen mother’s acting mettle might overshadow her, so she requested the producer and director to cut off Reema Lagoo’s few scenes. Initially, they refused, but since she was one of the most sought-after actresses at the time, and charged high fees, they budged and gave in to her demands.
