Despite their illustrious careers, one thing has not been going well for Brad Pitt and his former wife Angelina Jolie for quite a few years. The events of their personal lives, relationships, weddings, divorce and subsequent legal battles with each other have always been in the public eye. Hollywood has already been abuzz with their ongoing legal battle over their French winery, Chateau Miraval, which has only intensified the rift and impacted their family dynamics. Now, adding to that, things are not looking good for Brad Pitt.
According to reports, the couple’s children have started to distance themselves from their father by dropping his name. The couple share six children: Shiloh, Zahara, Vivienne, Knox, Pax and Maddox. Growing up in the spotlight amid their parents’ highly publicised disputes has taken its toll on the children.
The strained relationship between the once-celebrated Hollywood couple has evidently affected their kids, prompting them to take steps to distance themselves from their father. Most recently, 15-year-old Vivienne made headlines for reportedly dropping ‘Pitt’ from her name. In the Playbill credits for The Outsiders, a Broadway play she assisted with earlier this year, her name appeared as Vivienne Jolie, according to reports from OK Magazine.
Despite these actions, there have also been reports that Brad Pitt is trying to maintain a good relationship with his children. According to a source in InTouch, Pitt has been meeting his kids regularly and making efforts to rebuild their relationship. However, the actions of his children, such as dropping his name, suggest otherwise.
Vivienne is not the first to do so; her older sisters, Zahara and Shiloh, have also taken similar steps. Zahara introduced herself at a Spelman College sorority event without using Pitt as her surname, informs OK Magazine. Reportedly, her sister Shiloh’s private Instagram account, as seen in a dance video tagged by choreographer Lil Kellaan Carter, shows her name as Shi Jolie.
