Christopher Nolan To Team Up With Matt Damon For Third Time? Here's What We Know
Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy are the only actors to work with Christopher Nolan on at least three films.

After the tremendous success of Oppenheimer, which earned seven Academy Awards, Christopher Nolan fans have been eagerly waiting for news about his next project. Although he has kept fans in suspense, reports from Deadline reveal that Nolan’s upcoming untitled film is set to release on July 17, 2026.

For the movie, Nolan will reportedly reunite with Matt Damon, who played General Leslie Groves in Oppenheimer and Dr Mann in Interstellar. The Oscar-winning filmmaker would again be collaborating with Universal Pictures. The makers plan to release the movie in IMAX format, similar to Nolan’s previous works.

As of now, only the release date and lead actor are confirmed, details about the plot remain a mystery, while production is expected to begin in 2025.

Previous Variety reports had suggested that Nolan might remake the television series, The Prisoner, which came out in 1960.

The director was previously attached to this project back in 2009, but it got shelved without updates. Interestingly, in the same year, a miniseries titled, The Prisoner, featuring Ian McKellen and Ruth Wilson, was released, which brought a fresh perspective to the original concept.

However, The Hollywood Reporter dismissed this report, citing a close to Christopher Nolan. “Although details are being kept in the bunker, the project is not a big-screen take on 1960s British series The Prisoner, an endeavour Nolan contemplated in the 2000s,” the source close to the development of the project told the news outlet.

Meanwhile, Matt Damon will reportedly become the latest actor, after Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy, to work with Nolan on at least three films. Bale appeared as Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy, while Murphy was featured in Inception, Oppenheimer and Batman Begins.

Nolan’s new project is expected to attract several top Hollywood stars.

Christopher Nolan’s last project, Oppenheimer, earned him his first Academy Award as a director. The film also won six additional awards, Cillian Murphy took home the Best Actor award, while Robert Downey Jr was honoured with Best Supporting Actor.

Hoyte van Hoytema received an award in the Best Cinematography category and Ludwig Goransson’s work earned him the Best Original Score award. Oppenheimer was also named Best Film Editing and Best Picture.
