The pandemic-induced lockdown that gripped the world not only halted daily life but also gave a severe blow to the film industry, impacting both established actors and budding talents. Among those facing the brunt is actress Arushi Sharma, who, despite her promising start in Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha and Love Aaj Kal, found herself struggling during the pandemic, contemplating leaving the showbiz realm.
Born on November 18, 1995, in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Arushi Sharma entered the film industry with a small yet impactful role in Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha, where she portrayed Ranbir Kapoor’s teacher and featured in the song Chali Kahani. Ali, recognising her potential, cast her again in Love Aaj Kal, this time in a more significant and pivotal role opposite Randeep Hooda.
However, as the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the film industry, Arushi found herself grappling with a lack of opportunities. Despite the industry’s recovery, she faced a prolonged dry spell, leading her to consider leaving the world of entertainment. Armed with an engineering degree, Arushi revealed in an interview with NDTV that she applied for jobs in various companies during this challenging period.
After facing setbacks and contemplating a career change, Arushi Sharma found her second innings in the world of OTT platforms. She made her mark alongside Jitendra Kumar in Netflix’s Jaadugar in 2022. While the film itself may not have received widespread acclaim, Arushi’s performance as Disha Chabbra, a doctor whose path intersects with a magician with a penchant for football, garnered appreciation.
Undeterred by previous challenges, Arushi continued her journey with a role in the Netflix series Kaala Paani, directed by Sameer Saxena and Amit Golani. In this critically acclaimed series, she portrayed a patient grappling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), marking a significant resurgence in her career.
