Despite A Promising Debut At 15, Why Actor Harish Kumar's Career Couldn't Excel
Prem Qaidi turned out to be a success, catapulting both Harish Kumar and Karisma Kapoor to stardom.

While lead actresses debuting in cinema at an age as young as 14 is not unheard of in Indian cinema, one male actor made his debut as the lead at the mere age of 15 and became a star with his very first film. Despite being part of a handful of hit films, the actor is lost into oblivion today. We are talking about Harish Kumar, the charming chocolate boy of the 90s who made his debut with the 1991 film Prem Qaidi opposite Karisma Kapoor, who also made her debut with the film.

Prem Qaidi turned out to be a success, catapulting both Harish Kumar and Karisma Kapoor to stardom. Harish Kumar, born on August 1, 1975, in Hyderabad, began his film career at the tender age of 4. By the age of 15, he made his debut as a lead actor, gaining attention not only in Bollywood but also in the South Indian film industry. Following this early success, Harish Kumar appeared in several successful Bollywood films, including Coolie No. 1 and Tirangaa. After the film Inteqam in 2001, Harish chose to step away from the limelight. According to a report from Dainik Bhaskar, Harish Kumar faced a sudden decline in work opportunities due to weight gain, which altered his appearance significantly. However, concrete information about his situation remains elusive.

As reported by a YouTube channel named Film Stories, Harish started experiencing back pain initially perceived as minor, but it progressively worsened over time. Eventually, his condition deteriorated to the point where he was unable to leave his bed. Reports indicate that upon consulting doctors, it was discovered that Harish had sustained a spinal injury during childhood, which exacerbated over time leading to a slipped disc. Doctors advised against medication and recommended a two-year hiatus from work, during which his weight increased.

Harish attempted a comeback in 2011 with the film Naughty @ 40, co-starring Govinda, but the film failed to revive his career. He also appeared in Chaar Din Ki Chandni in 2012, which also did not perform well at the box office.
