The assassination of NCP leader and Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique has sent shockwaves in the country. Bollywood celebrities rushed to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai to meet the family of the late leader. Amidst this, questions have popped up about Salman Khan’s security as the Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder. A recent report has revealed that security has been amped up outside Khan’s house and the actor has cancelled all meetings.
As reported by India Today, Salman Khan is distressed after the death of Baba Siddique. The two were close friends and the actor was always spotted at his star-studded Iftar parties. The report revealed that the actor has been checking up on Zeeshan Siddique and the family after coming back from the hospital. The report quoted a source who said, “Bhai has been on the phone checking on the funeral arrangements and every other detail. He has cancelled all his personal meetings for the next few days as well.”
It also mentioned that not just the actor but his family is also devastated by the death of the political leader. The report added that Khan’s family has requested for privacy and has asked many of his friends in Bollywood to refrain from meeting him over safety concerns. Following the assassination, visuals show how security has been increased outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments. Earlier this year, two men opened fire outside his house. They were, later, arrested in Gujarat.
The Mumbai Police has registered a case regarding Siddique’s murder, invoking applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, and the Maharashtra Police Act. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Siddique will receive full state honours during his cremation as he held the position of minister in the Maharashtra government from 2004 to 2008 and also served as the chairman of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).
