A new trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7 is here and it conceptualises the unity between all the houses to fight a greater, more powerful threat beyond the wall( or maybe within it!)
The trailer begins with a voiceover of Littlefinger reminding the listener to constantly fight a battle in her head to have a leg up on any and all adversaries, as Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) walks through a snowy, wooded area while remaining mindful of her surroundings.
As images of Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Jaime Lannister and more flash, Jon Snow returns for a voice-over of his own. He recalls a time when the Starks fought alongside an unnamed family to take down a common threat, calling for unity amongst the leaders in the Seven Kingdoms as the Night King and his army get closer.
"For centuries our families fought together against their common enemy," he says. "Despite their differences — together. We need to do the same if we’re going to survive because the enemy is real. It’s always been real."
So does that means a united war against the white walkers is in place?
Another interesting element in the second trailer is Beric Dondarrion. Following his brief reappearance in Game of Thrones' sixth season, Beric is set to make an epic return in the coming seven episodes.
The leader of the Brotherhood without Banners — who has been repeatedly resurrected after being originally killed by the Mountain — was last seen successfully recruiting the Hound to travel north. Based on new season seven trailer, it looks as if Beric will wield his famed flaming sword in a battle against the White Walkers. However, this sword — which he first used during the Hound’s season three trial by combat — isn’t just an intimidating weapon. It’s also an integral part of the legend of the One Who Was Promised, a prophesied saviour in the religion of R’hllor who is the reincarnation of hero Azor Ahai.
Jon and Daenerys have both been declared the One Who Was Promised by two different Red Priestesses of the Lord of Light, Melisandre and Kinvara, respectively. But as the only other character who has experienced a seemingly miraculous rebirth, Beric also fits the prophecy’s description.
Of course, considering Beric is already dead in George R.R. Martin's books, this doesn’t seem likely. Luckily, the trailer may offer another clue about what's to come. If Beric were to actually die during this battle — as all men must — his Red Priest Thoros of Myr may not be able to bring him back for a seventh time, creating the perfect opportunity for Jon to gain control of Lightbringer.
Therefore, without dwelling on many footages, the second trailer gives more clues about prophecies, while cautioning fans about what to expect next.
