One of the most successful Bollywood actresses Karisma Kapoor has turned 50 today. Belonging to the star-studded Kapoor family, she never relied on her peers’ support to make big in the film industry. She was one of the highest-paid actresses in the 90s. She played the leading lady in several box-office hits including Jigar, Anari, Andaz Apna Apna, Raja Babu, Coolie No 1, Jeet and Saajan Chale Sasural. She starred in the lead role in the top-grossing films of the 90s like Raja Hindustani and Dil To Pagal Hai and established herself as a star. The leading lady who made the careers of many actors once saved the life of her co-actor. It was her debut film Prem Qaidi and the actor was Harish Kumar.
Karisma Kapoor debuted with the film Prem Qaidi in 1991. It was directed by K Murali Mohana and starred Harish Kumar apart from Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles. In a recent revelation, actor Harish Kumar shared how Karisma Kapoor saved him from drowning during a shooting of a scene in the film. Recalling the incident, he said that there was a scene which was supposed to be shot in which he had to jump into a swimming pool to save Karisma Kapoor from drowning. “In reality, she was the one who saved me because I did not know how to swim,” said Harish Kumar while talking to the media.
“I was about to drown, in fact, I was drowning, but people on set thought I was playing a prank, so no one helped me except Karisma. She held me and I held onto her clothes. So all this used to also happen in nineties Bollywood,” Harish Kumar recalled. Interestingly, Karisma Kapoor was only 17 years old, while Harish Kumar was a year younger in the film. Apart from the lead roles, actors Dalip Tahil, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Shafi Inamdar and Bharat Bhushan are in prominent roles.
Karisma Kapoor was last seen in the Netflix film, Murder Mubaarak. It was directed by Homi Adajania. It starred Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Dimple Kapadia, Tisca Chopra and Sanjay Kapoor in the lead roles.
