It was in 2006 that 15-year-old Tamannaah Bhatia became the talk of the town when she delivered a power-packed performance in the Tamil movie ‘Kedi’, earning rave reviews and countless compliments along the way. Shortly thereafter, she established herself as one of the most bankable names of Southern cinema courtesy her suave style statement, confident personality, intense acting style and above all strong screen presence.

Moreover, the actress also won over a legion of die-hard fans, adding a new dimension to her tryst with stardom. Today, as Tamannaah celebrates her birthday, we present before you some of her most memorable big screen outings.

100% Love: Touted as a light-hearted comedy, ‘100% Love’ revolved around the chequered relationship between a young man and his cousin. Directed by Sukumar, the film was released in 2011 and fared extremely well at the box office. Shot in Telugu, it was later on dubbed into Tamil and Malayalam as well.

Bahubali: A blockbuster in every sense of the word, ‘Bahubali’ featured Tamannaah in the role of a fierce warrior. Touted as a war epic, it was directed by maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli. Filmed simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, the movie saw her strike up a crackling rapport with co-star Prabhas. Interestingly, ‘Bahuali’ also featured Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Ramya Krishnan in pivotal roles.

Kanden Kadhalai: A remake of the popular Hindi film ‘Jab We Met’, this romantic-comedy gave Tamannaah an ideal opportunity to showcase her comic timing to the fullest. And needless to star, the actress did full justice to her role and left the audience in splits. Interestingly, the film was initially offered to Shriya Saran. However she turned it down courtesy a packed schedule.

Racha: Best remembered for the crackling onscreen chemistry between Tamannaah and Ram Charan, ‘Racha’ revolved around the exploits of a Hyderabad based gangster. Directed by Sampath Nandi and shot on a budget of Rs 320 million, it opened to a thunderous response at the box office. Interestingly, the actress’ performance was praised by and sundry, helping her earn a Filmfare nomination.

Entertainment: Directed by Sajid-Farhad, this lively comedy focused on the relationship between a struggler and a canine. A runaway hit at the box office, it saw Tamannaah woo Akshay Kumar on the big screen. Released in 2014, the movie also featured Mithun Chakraborty Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj in important roles.

Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu: Boasting of some gripping fight scenes and tender romantic sequences, ‘Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu’ saw Tamannaah essay the role of Pawan Kalyan’s love interest. Helmed by Puri Jagannadh, it was later on dubbed into Hindi as ‘Mera Target’.

Paiyaa: Released in 2010, ‘Paiyaa’ created quite stir amongst movie buffs thanks to the fabulous chemistry between Karthi and Tamannaah. Revolving around the heartwarming relationship between a carefree young man and a vivacious young woman, it featured a perfect mix of romance, action and of course comedy. Interestingly, it was later on remade in Kannada as ‘Ajith’ with Nikki Galrani essaying the role played by Tamannaah in the original.

Siruthai: A retelling of the Ravi Teja starrer ‘Vikramarkudu’, this action-drama is best remembered for the playful and at times naughty romance between the actress and Karthi. Interestingly, Tamannaah’s ‘Bahubali’ co-star Anushka Shetty had played the female lead in the original version.

Veeram: One of the most important releases of her career, ‘Veeram’ saw Tamannaah play the role of Ajith Kumar’s lover, Needless to say, she shared a wonderful rapport with the veteran star and added another feather to her cap. Directed by Siva, the film emerged a big money spinner at the ticket window.

Kalloori: Regarded as the film that propelled Tamannaah into the big league, ‘Kalloori’ created a stir in the industry courtesy its emotional emotional storyline and highly relatable performances. Directed by Balaji, it turned out to be a commercial and critical success.
