Jennifer Lopez Recalls First Meeting With Husband Ben Affleck And What She Loved About It
Speaking about their initial encounter, Lopez shared that she first met Affleck at the read-through for the film.

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez recently took a trip down memory lane, remembering her first meeting with actor Ben Affleck on the set of their 2003 romantic comedy film Gigli. As part of a segment for Variety titled Does Jennifer Lopez Know Her Lines From Her Most Famous Movies, the multi-talented star engaged in a fun challenge, trying to recall memorable lines from her extensive filmography. While she aced lines from movies like The Wedding Planner and Jersey Girl, there was one line that stumped her. The line in question was, “I thought you wanted to be my bitch."

After a moment of contemplation, Lopez burst into laughter, remembering that it was a line from Gigli, the film where she and Affleck, her now-husband, first crossed paths. Speaking about their initial encounter, Lopez shared that she first met Affleck at the read-through for the film. She vividly recalled spotting him outside during a short break. “They did a read-through of the whole thing and I remember kind of just walking in and thinking. I saw him and we just talked for like a minute and then I sat down and we did the read-through. I remember a whole bunch more about it. I remember being on the set with him every day and loving it," Lopez added.

Lopez and Affleck’s relationship extended beyond the movie set, as they famously dated in the early 2000s, became engaged, and later parted ways in 2004. However, their love story took a surprising turn when they rekindled their romance in 2021 and exchanged vows a year later.

In an earlier interview with Variety, Lopez opened up about the challenges they faced during their initial relationship, attributing their breakup to the overwhelming pressure they experienced. She explained, “Our relationship crumbled under the weight of the pressure. We lost a sense of ourselves, and we needed to separate because we didn’t know how to survive it. I had to figure myself out, and he had to figure himself out."

Lopez also expressed a willingness to collaborate with Affleck again, stating, “I don’t know, in the right thing, maybe, on the right thing. I mean, we love working together and being together so maybe."

As fans eagerly anticipate the possibility of seeing Lopez and Affleck together on screen once more, one thing is certain: their enduring bond, both on and off screen, continues to captivate audiences around the world.
