Karan Johar Admits He's Not Watched K3G After Its Release: 'I Will Re-release It Only When...' | Exclusive
Karan Johar recently spoke about hit Hindi films re-releasing in theatres during the trailer launch of Bad Newz.

It’s been a season of re-releases for Bollywood. Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar was re-released last month and it has been boasting for housefull shows. Recently, Farhan Akhtar also re-released Lakshya, which has been getting positive response from the audience. As many enjoy this phenomenon, many on social media have also wondered if Karan Johar will re-release films such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, among other cult movies produced by Dharma Productions. The filmmaker has finally shared his thoughts.

Addressing News18 at the Bad Newz trailer launch, Karan praised the re-releasing of films but shared a bad news with fans expecting his films re-releasing anytime soon. He said, “I was really excited with the films coming back. I was so happy, jab Rockstar re-release hui aur itna saara pyaar mila. Instagram ke reels mein roz main dekhta tha, log jo cult film hai thi – Rockstar, usko itna pyaar aur mohabbat mil rahi thi.”

“I feel ye jo phenomenon shuru hua hai, films re-releasing again, I think it’s fantastic. A whole generation has grown up watching certain films,” KJo added.

Taking K3G’s name, Karan said, “I feel that when K3G completes 25 years, tab I feel we should re-release the film. I haven’t seen the film myself, I watch my films only once properly when it’s ready. I don’t watch after that. I haven’t seen the film in 23 years. When the scenes or dialogues come on reels, I watch (otherwise I haven’t watched it).”

He said he will would re-release it only when it’s a milestone moment. “I would like to do it (re-release) when there’s a momentous milestone and I hope that everybody else, jiski bhi special filmein hai, jaise Zoya Akhtar ka retrospect ho ya Rockstar hai, aisa hona chahiye. We should constantly remind everybody that Hindi cinema rocks,” Karan concluded.

As of now, Karan is co-producing Bad Newz. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk. The film releases on July 19.
