Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and producer Umapathy Srinivas Gowda, who were once close friends, have been at loggerheads for some time now. A few years back, Darshan mentioned in a media interaction that both he and Puneeth Rajkumar owned the same model of a Lamborghini Urus. This statement recently gained a response from producer Umapathy Srinivasa Gowda. Umapathy inquired who had paid the advance for the Lamborghini, hinting at financial contributions he had made.
Previously, Umapathy and Darshan had a cold war. During this period, Darshan’s unique possession of the Lamborghini alongside Puneeth Rajkumar was a significant talking point, which stirred controversy among many in the Kannada film industry. Umapathy addressed these issues by affirming that he had financially supported Darshan in buying the car, stating that he wasn’t someone who would choose money over relationships.
“There is a saying that stay away from evil and we are like that saying. We have never done anything wrong when we were together. Even when mistakes happen, we have prevented those mistakes from happening. We have told him many times,” said producer Umapathy.
Regarding Darshan’s alleged alcohol issues, Umapathy commented on the tendency of people in the industry to claim ownership over films, titles, and deeds, suggesting that these individuals must also own up to the consequences of their actions. He humorously dismissed Darshan’s remarks about not being overly concerned or dramatic about criticisms.
Umapathy also touched upon a recent tragic event involving Renuka Swamy, noting that it further killed his respect for Darshan after learning about it through the media and the subsequent death of the father of the accused, Anu Kumar.
In a big development in the Renuka Swamy murder case, it has now been revealed that Darshan’s fan died of shock and haemorrhage. As reported by NDTV, the autopsy report found 15 wounds on his body including marks on the head, abdomen, chest and other parts. It also suggested that Renuka Swamy’s head rammed a mini truck which was parked in a shed in Bengaluru and has now been seized by the police.
