Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt gave fans the best Christmas gift last year — the first look at their daughter Raha. The actors, who welcomed their daughter in 2022, finally introduced their daughter Raha to the media at the Kapoor family Christmas lunch and it broke the internet. The blue-eyed Kapoor daughter had everyone gasping ‘aww’ all over social media. Now Raha’s grandfather and film maker Mahesh Bhatt reveals that he was surprised by Ranbir and Alia’s decision to reveal her face.
Speaking with the entertainment portal Zoom, Mahesh Bhatt couldn’t help himself but called Raha the ‘epicentre’ of the Kapoor-Bhatt household, “So when you go there, they just stay in the background and only she emerges as the enchanting, mesmerising entity,” he shared.
As for Ranbir and Alia’s decision to reveal Raha’s face, Mahesh Bhatt quipped, “I, myself, was quite surprised that they did that. I think they must have felt that OK, now, she’s one year and it’s time for her to be introduced to the world at large, who was very curious to know what their baby looks like. And I think, they did it with tremendous grace and must say the media behaved very decent.”
Ranbir and Alia had decided to wait a while before they introduce Raha to the world. Explaining her reason on Hindustan Times Leadership Summit earlier this year, Alia said, “I don’t want it to seem like I am hiding my daughter. I am proud of her. If the cameras were not rolling right now, I would put a giant image of her on the screen. I love her. I am proud of our baby. But we are new parents. We don’t know how we feel about her face splashed out all over the internet, she’s barely a year old.”
Although they chose to keep her away from the limelight, Ranbir has often spoken about her. In the past, the actor said he doesn’t shy away from showing pictures of Raha to people he meets frequently. Ranbir also recently revealed that he has got his daughter Raha’s name inked on his collar bone.
