Marvel Studios has done it again! On Monday, they officially released the teaser trailer and poster for their upcoming film, Thunderbolts, leaving fans buzzing with excitement. This new project brings a fresh perspective to the superhero genre, giving the spotlight to a team of misfits, including the troubled assassin Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh. The crew, full of characters that aren’t your typical heroes, is set to shake things up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Thunderbolts follows a group of reformed supervillains who are pulled together by the US government for special missions.
The cast is packed with familiar faces, including Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Hannah John-Kamen and Wyatt Russell.
The trailer opens with Yelena Belova sitting down with David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov, also known as Red Guardian. Belova starts the conversation with a heavy question, “You feel fulfilled?" Harbour’s character responds, “Why do you ask this? What brings you here?" It’s clear from the start that Yelena is dealing with some inner struggles, setting the tone for the emotional depth of the film.
Soon after, Yelena’s voiceover continues, giving a glimpse into her state of mind. “There is something wrong with me… An emptiness… I’m just drifting… And I don’t have a purpose," she confesses. The trailer, which runs for over three minutes, gradually introduces the rest of the Thunderbolts team. We see glimpses of characters played by Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell and Hannah John-Kamen, each dealing with their own issues.
As the group is pulled together, the action ramps up, promising viewers an intense and chaotic adventure.

Jake Schreier, who has previously directed Paper Towns, Robot & Frank and six episodes of the Emmy-award-winning show Beef, is at the helm for Thunderbolts.
The film will see the return of several beloved MCU characters, including Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Each of these characters brings their own complicated histories and seeing them work as a team is sure to make for a thrilling storyline.
Behind the scenes, Jake Schreier directs with Kevin Feige producing the film, while Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez and Scarlett Johansson serve as executive producers. Thunderbolts is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
