Nakuul Mehta Reacts To Hema Committee Report, Says ‘This Must Affect All’: ‘Let Not Their Valiant Efforts…’
The Hema Committee Report sparked the MeToo movement in Kerala. TV actor Nakuul Mehta weighed in on the report and movement.

Nakuul Mehta, better known for his roles in Ishqbaaaz and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2, recently shared his thoughts on the ongoing discussion about the Hema Committee Report. He took to his social media to spread awareness about the report and shed light on the MeToo movement in Kerala. Nakuul said that the report must affect all of us. The report has been a subject of discussion among several South celebrities, including Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Nakuul Mehta shared The News Minute article about the report and wrote, “For anyone who wants to knows more about the historic purging in the Malayalam film industry led by incredible @wcc_cinema please read about The Hema Committee Report. This must affect all of us. Every industry. Every woman & man. Working or otherwise.”

He then shared, “It takes a hot minute for us to share a #IStandWith post for anything heinous which shakes us as society or affects our collective conscience. It may take a few more to learn about the struggles which women & men may be fighting in another part of our country which may or may not affect us directly.”

“But if you do chose to do that, you may actually end up moving needle a tiny bit more than sharing one more solidarity story. ‘Let’s attempt’ to read, learn, be aware, have dialogues, understand and figure out ways in which we could offer any support to these revolutions. Let not their valiant efforts not be known to humankind. @wcc_cinema,” he added.

The Hema Committee Report blew the lid on sexual harassment cases in Kerala. After the report went public, several people have come forward to share the sexual harassment they were subjected to while working in the Malayalam film industry. A few FIRs have been registered against Mollywood celebrities such as actor Mukesh, actor Jayasurya and director Ranjith.

Amid these cases, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal stepped down from the position of President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). His resignation left everyone in shock. However, Mohanlal welcomed the Hema Committee report. He said, “The Hema Committee report is welcoming. I have been before the committee twice. My request: Please don’t destroy the industry.” He added, “We welcome the Hema Committee report. It was the correct decision by the government to release that report.”

Meanwhile, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has also taken a powerful stand in support of women in the Telugu film industry by sharing an Instagram story urging the Telangana government to release a sub-committee report originally submitted by The Voice of Women, a support group created for women in the Telugu film industry (TFI). Samantha’s public endorsement has added significant weight to the cause.
