Nana Patekar broke his silence on his rumoured ex-girlfriend Manisha Koirala’s performance in Heeramandi. The actor admitted he watched the Sanjay Leela Bhansali show and was impressed by her performance. However, he did not reach out to her to praise her because he doesn’t have her latest phone number.
Heeramandi released on Netflix in May. Manisha played the role of Mallikajaan. Her performance was praised by critics and fans. Speaking with The Lallantop, Nana called Manisha a ‘great actress’ and said, “Bohot accha kaam kiya. (She’s done a very good job in the show).” When asked if he reached out to her to congratulate her on the show, Nana paused for a few seconds before saying, “Phone number woh same nahi hai shayad ab (Her phone number isn’t the same anymore I think).”
For the unversed, Nana and Manisha allegedly dated in secrecy while they were filming for Agni Sakshi in 1996. Manisha was fresh out of a relationship with Vivek Mushran at the time. She allegedly fell for Nana’s personality. Nana, who was married to Neelakanti, was living separately from his wife when the affair took place.
When Nana and Manisha teamed up for Khamoshi, the actor did not keep their romance under the wraps. However, their relationship came to an end after Nana reportedly cheated on her.
Meanwhile, in the same interview, Nana also addressed the MeToo allegations made by Tanushree Dutta against him. “I knew that it was all a lie. That’s why I didn’t get angry. When everything was a lie, why should I be angry? And all those things are old. They have happened. What can we talk about them? Everyone knew the truth. What could I say at that time when nothing like this happened? Suddenly, someone says that you did this, you did that. What would I have answered to all these things? Should I have said that I didn’t do this? I know the truth that I didn’t do anything,” Nana Patekar said in the interview.
