New York: Actors Neena Gupta and Rajit Kapoor were honoured with the Best Actress and Actor award at the 16th annual New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) for their roles in 'The Threshold'.

Directed by Pushan Kripalani, 'The Threshold' was screened at the festival on Friday. Neena took to Twitter on Sunday to share the news.

“Me and Rajit Kapoor won best actors for our film 'The Threshold' in Newport,” Neena tweeted alongside a photograph of their trophies.

The film details one day in the life of a north Indian couple who have been married for over two decades.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher congratulated Neena and Rajit.

“Congratulations Neena Gupta for winning the Best Actress award for your film 'The Threshold',” he wrote.

The festival, which concluded on Saturday with the screening of Hansal Mehta's "Aligarh", screens feature, documentary and short films made from, of and about the Indian subcontinent in the independent, art-house, alternate and diaspora genres every year.
