The eagerly awaited sequel, L2 Empuraan, following the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, is presently in production. This highly anticipated film signifies the third collaboration between superstar Mohanlal and actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran. Commencing filming in October 2023, the action-packed entertainer is set to undergo multiple shooting schedules throughout the year, spanning various foreign locations before concluding in Kerala.
Meanwhile, director Prithviraj, presently in the UK for the initial foreign shoot of his ambitious project, provided a significant update via his official social media channels. Sharing a snapshot from the UK set of the upcoming Mohanlal starrer, Prithviraj Sukumaran captioned, “#L2E End of Schedule 2!” The versatile talent is depicted issuing instructions to his team through a microphone in the on-location image. Adorned in sleek black winter attire and a matching cap, the actor-filmmaker maintains his stylish presence in the latest working still from L2 Empuraan. It’s worth noting that Mohanlal, the lead actor, was not part of the initial UK schedule.

As per the recent updates, director Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team are gearing up for a trip to the US following a brief schedule break. It’s reported that the third schedule of the film is scheduled to commence there next week. Mohanlal, currently occupied with the final promotions of his upcoming project Malaikottai Vaaliban, is slated to join the cast and crew of L2 Empuraan for the forthcoming schedule in the US.
Mohanlal is slated to revisit his adored role as Stephen Nedumpally, alias Kureshi Ab’Ram, in L2 Empuraan. Prithviraj Sukumaran, in addition to directing the film, will reprise his role as Zayed Masood. The screenplay is crafted by the acclaimed actor-writer Murali Gopy, with Sujith Vaassudev serving as the director of photography, and Deepak Dev handling both songs and the original score.
The sequel will feature the return of familiar faces such as Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Saniya Iyappan, Baiju Santhosh, Sai Kumar, Shivaji Guruvayoor, and others from the original Lucifer cast. Notably, new talents, including Salaar actor Karthikeya Dev, are anticipated to join the ensemble. L2 Empuraan is a collaborative production between Antony Perumbavoor and A Subaskaran, under the esteemed banners of Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.
