The 1983 broadcast of the Ramayan on Doordarshan stays in the hearts of millions of Indians rent-free. The series, cherished by people nationwide, experienced renewed popularity during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Following the narrative of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, Ramayan also depicted the story of their sons, Luv and Kush. The sequel, Uttar Ramayana, continued their tale. Swapnil Joshi portrayed the character of Kush, while Mayuresh Kshetramade took on the role of Luv in the series.
Following his role as Kush in the series, Swapnil Joshi continued his acting career and later portrayed Shri Krishna in a serial, establishing himself as a well-known name in Marathi cinema. In contrast, Mayuresh Kshetramade, who played Luv, chose to step away from the film and TV industry. After leaving acting, Mayuresh ventured into business and achieved success in that field.
Having left acting, Mayuresh directed his efforts toward education and subsequently collaborated with prominent companies. Presently, he serves as the CEO of Commission Junction Affiliate and resides in the US with his family. Mayuresh has evolved into a prosperous businessman, with a reportedly high net worth. CJ Affiliate, under his leadership, is said to generate a revenue of $170 million (Rs 4,000 crore). Additionally, Mayuresh has authored a book titled Spite and Development.
Ramayana, aired in the 80s, elevated each character to godlike status for the audience. Arun Govil portrayed Lord Ram and Deepika Chikhalia portrayed Sita. While many actors from the series continue to work in entertainment, there is one actor from Ramayana who distanced himself from the acting world.
Born in 1976 in Mumbai, Mayuresh Kshetramade, at 44, 2020, started his educational journey after completing school. He pursued a B.Sc. in Statistics at the University of Mumbai and later earned an MA in Economics from the same institution. Furthering his education, Mayuresh enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin for an MS in Economics. Despite his academic pursuits, he harboured a keen interest in acting from a young age, starting his acting career at the age of five.
