It is often said that Indian cricket fans can reach every corner of the world to see their team play. Especially when it is an India vs Pakistan match. The pressure remains high for the players as well as for the fans. The same was witnessed in the recent India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match in New York. Thousands gathered in the stadium to cheer their team against the arch-rivals. Though it was a low-scoring game, it was filled with excitement. The pitch looked tricky, but India successfully defended their lowest-ever T20Is score. The winning celebration involved a popular Bollywood song that made Indian fans dance to its tune. As the Indian cricket team recorded a win, the stadium echoed with the title track of the film Rang De Basanti. It was played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. Indian fans started dancing to its tune. The song added a special flavour to the celebration of India’s win against Pakistan. It was sung by Daler Mehndi & Chitra, while the music of the song was composed by AR Rahman. The lyrics of the song were penned by Prasoon Joshi.
Rang De Basanti tells the story of a group of college boys who help an English woman to make a documentary on the freedom fighters of our country. The film was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. It features many popular actors like Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Siddharth, Soha Ali Khan, Anupam Kher and Om Puri.
Coming back to the match, it was filled with intense pressure till the last ball. The Indian batters failed to show their original colour as they were bowled out at 119 runs in 19 overs. The two-star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were bowled out, leaving India in great trouble. Rishabh Pant played an important knock of 42 of 31 balls, which helped India to reach a decent score. The bowling conditions looked superb at New York and Pakistan bowlers took the full advantage to stop India in a very low score. Despite a good start, Pakistan failed to chase down 120 in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets in his 4 overs giving out just 14 runs, while Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets for 24 runs, which helped India to restrict Pakistan in Just 113 runs in 20 overs.
Presently, India is at the top of the Group A table with four points in two matches, while Pakistan is in the fifth position of the table as they are yet to register a win in this tournament.
