Karate Raja, renowned for his portrayal of one of the henchmen of Prakash Raj in the hit movie Ghilli, has carved a niche for himself in the Tamil film industry. His stellar performances have earned him a devoted fanbase and established him as a prominent figure in Tamil cinema.
Before venturing into acting, Karate Raja conducted Karate classes in schools. However, upon entering the world of cinema, he decided to focus solely on his acting career, setting aside his Karate classes. Despite being born Natarajan, the actor chose to adopt the name Karate Raja professionally.
Making his debut in 2004 with a supporting role in Kamal Haasan’s Virumaandi, Karate Raja quickly rose to prominence. He further showcased his acting prowess by starring in the serial Sandhan Kaadu on Makkal TV and securing a significant role in the movie Vasool Raja MBBS, a Tamil remake of the Bollywood hit Munnabhai MBBS. In 2007, Karate Raja delivered a notable performance in the film Pokkiri Raja, directed by Prabhu Deva. Over the years, he has shared the screen with esteemed actors such as Rajinikanth, Thalapathy Vijay, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, Suriya, and Vikram, further solidifying his position in the industry.
Karate Raja’s portrayal of the antagonist’s deadly henchman in Ghilli garnered widespread acclaim. Acting alongside stars like Prakash Raj, Thalapathy Vijay, and Trisha Krishnan, he left a lasting impression on audiences. Directed by Dharani, Ghilli was re-released after 20 years, delighting fans. The 2004 blockbuster hit returned to theatres on April 20, recording an impressive box office collection of Rs 4.25 crore on its premiere day across 320 theatres in Tamil Nadu alone.
Following its re-release, Ghilli continued to attract audiences, accumulating around Rs 20 crores in just four days. Karate Raja’s contribution to the film’s success underscores his talent and versatility as an actor, solidifying his status as a beloved figure in Tamil cinema.
