Sunny Leone has been denied permission for a dance performance at Kerala University. The actress was supposed to perform at an event at the University College of Engineering in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5, 2024. However, as reported by NDTV, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Mohanan Kunnummal, has now instructed the Registrar to ensure that Sunny Leone’s show is not included in the programme list.
The decision comes a year after a stampede killed four and injured over 60 at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The incident occurred during a music concert led by Nikhita Gandhi. Following the unfortunate incident, the state government had imposed a ban on external DJ parties, music nights or similar events on college campuses.
Interestingly, this also comes at a time when Sunny Leone is all set to make her Malayalam debut. In April this year, the actress announced that she will enter Malayalam films soon. She took to her Instagram handle to share a glimpse of the muhurat ceremony on the sets. “I’m so excited to be part of this amazing #Malyalam film that I ended up burning my hands (sic),” she wrote. However, details about this Malayalam movie are not known as of now.
Sunny Leone also has ‘Quotation Gang’ in her pipeline. Previously, the makers of the film treated the audience with the trailer of the film, where people were amazed to see Sunny in a rustic and de-glam look. Reportedly, Sunny will be seen portraying the character of a calculative assassin who is an integral part of a ruthless gang involved in contract killings. ‘Quotation Gang’ will also star Jackie Shroff, Priya Mani and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles.
In December 2023, Sunny talked about being a part of Jackie Shroff’s movie when she exclusively told News18 Showsha, “I don’t want to be the star of a movie. I would rather have a smaller part that has a meaning and purpose than an entire film based on my name, which isn’t very good. Kennedy was like that. My next film Quotation Gang with Jackie (Shroff) sir is another film which isn’t solely based on my name. It’s a smaller part but it’s great for me,”
Besides this, Sunny Leone will also be seen in the Anurag Kashyap-directorial ‘Kennedy’, which premiered at Cannes 2023. The film is set to head to the theatres soon.
