Ali Fazal Cheers For Richa Chadha’s Performance In Heeramandi: Only A Fool Would Not Take Lajjo
Richa Chadha receives the loudest cheer from her husband Ali Fazal for her exceptional performance in Heeramandi.

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal have come a long way in their respective careers and have been each other’s biggest cheerleaders through thick and thin. The duo are often seen supporting each other on social media, and their cute banter and chatter have found immense love from fans on social media. As Richa basks in the success of her role as Lajjo in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, Ali took to his Instagram handle to give her a shout-out.

Ali took to social media with the most adorable post, appreciating the incredible success of Richa and the love that has come her way for her portrayal of Lajjo. Ali, sharing a montage of unseen moments of their travels, wrote, “Only a fool would not take Lajjo and fly away!! Earlier last week, Richa Chadha revealed that she was given another role in Heeramandi. “When I was approached for ‘Heeramandi,’ at the time Sanjay sir was the showrunner, and I had been offered another part, one with more screentime for sure. But because an actor also needs to see what’s in here that’s new for me, I chose Lajjo.”

She added, “I have experimented with characters that have a grey shade, like Bholi Punjaban or Tara in Madam Chief Minister. Basically, I get accused of playing only empowered characters, so I felt the need to break that stereotype and surprise the audience. I wanted to play a part in a hopeless romance and leave the audience with goosebumps. That’s exactly what’s happening. People are calling me in tears.”

She further revealed, “Hence, when sir told me, come and check this character out, I was immediately drawn to Lajjo. I was certain this would pay off, and it has. Right from industry peers to filmmakers to friends and audiences have sent me such amazing love, I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Heeramandi, which was released last week on Netflix, has become the number one most streamed Indian show in the world in the first week of its release on the OTT platform. Richa Chadha has been praised by audiences, calling her performance “her career best.”  Fans have even noted the remarkable similarity between her character and that of Meena Kumari and tagged her as the female Devdas.
