The Devil Wears Prada 2: Meryl Streep To Face Off Against Emily Blunt; Anne Hathaway To Return?
The sequel will reportedly feature a face-off between Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt.

The Devil Wears Prada is finally getting a sequel and as per reports, fans will witness a face-off between Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. As per a report by Puck, Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly and Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton will be seen on opposite sides in a fashion tiff.

As per the report, Miranda, still the editor of the leading fashion magazine Runaway, will struggle with the decline in the traditional print business. She then faces off with her former assistant, Emily Charlton, who is now a senior executive at a luxury group. Miranda needs advertising revenue from Emily, and it’s in Emily’s hands to help her former boss, whom she had a terrible time working under.

However, it is unclear whether Anne Hathaway will also make a comeback to the franchise. As per the report, Aline Brosh McKenna is in talks to write the sequel. She also wrote the first part of the film. The Devil Wears Prada was based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name.

Previously, Anne Hathaway has spoken about how she doesn’t see a need for the film’s sequel. “I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen,” she told E! She added, “The reason that movie felt so special was that we were a team and we did that work, but really it’s the love that everybody pours to it.”

Speaking about her character, Andrea Sachs, Anne said, “I think Andy is in Paris and I think that she is writing for a wonderful French women’s magazine.” She added, “I think she’s a staff writer and she speaks French fluently. And I don’t think she’s married, but she might have a child or two. I think she’s pretty fab.”

In 2022, Anne again echoed this on The View when she said, “I don’t know if there can be [a sequel]…“I just think that movie was in a different era. Now everything’s gone so digital and that movie is centered around the concept of producing a physical thing and it’s just, it’s just very different.”
