The trailer for Transformers One, the much-anticipated prequel to the popular robotic film franchise Transformers has been unveiled. Directed by Josh Cooley, the robotic film franchise developed widespread popularity among the masses, since its inception in 1986. While the movies usually revolve around battle-ready robots, the upcoming live-action one will portray a different side to the iconic animated characters. Some of the who’s who of Hollywood lending their voices to Transformer One include Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Brian Tyree Henry. The sci-fi action is slated to hit the big screens on September 13.

In a fun trailer reveal, Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry were seen discussing dropping the visuals. In a matter of seconds, two robots appear on the screen representing the two actors. Hemsworth voices a young Optimus’

Prime who was previously known as only Orion Pax. Henry portrays the role of D-16 before he turns out to be Optimus’s biggest enemy aka Megatron. The trailer revealed that the duo previously were friends who started as worker bots. Their inability to transform was the robots’ biggest drawback.

Over the course of time, the two robots break through what they call the “surface" and admire everything above, including mechanised animals and plants. Soon, realising their potential, they are granted superpowers by Alpha Trion (Laurence Fishburne) enabling them to change into vehicles. They get access to weapons and are joined by two more powerful robots. Together, the four wage a war against a mysterious villain having vines as weapons that dream of taking away their planet Cybertron. Scarlett Johansson voices Elita.

Besides the three main leads, Transformers One boasts a voice-cast ensemble of Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, and Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime. Besides Paramount Animation, Transformers One is also exclusively produced by Steven Spielberg alongside Brian Oliver, Valerii An, Bradley J. Fischer and Brian Goldner.

After the 1986 The Transformers: The Movies, director Michael Bay was associated with five consecutive live-action Transformers films, starting in 2007. Travis Knight took over the director’s chair for the 2018 Bumblebee movie, followed by Steven Caple Jr’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts which was released in 2023.
