Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life is a recently released survival drama directed by Blessy. The film features Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role and hit theatres on March 28. The film opened to great reviews. The project is based on the life of Najeeb Muhammed, depicting the harsh trials of a Kerala migrant worker ensnared in forced labour as a goat herder on an isolated farm in Saudi Arabia. The film is based on the novel of the same name and was written by Benyamin. The film has received a great response and has been running successfully in theatres, but its story has also faced criticism. According to reports, veteran Malayalam actor Hareesh Peradi has criticised the writer of the novel, Benyamin, in a post on social media.
Hareesh Peradi is a popular Malayalam actor. Recently, after the release of Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life, he penned a note against the writer of the original novel on Facebook. Hareesh alleged that the story of Aadujeevitham is cheating people by marketing it as a story about a man’s life for the sake of the novel and the film. In his post, he also criticises Benyamin for misleading people with the story.
In the Facebook post, Hareesh wrote that the story of the novel and film have been written in such a way that they can be marketed to the world. He added that only 30 percent of the story is correct, and the rest has been manipulated as per the artist’s freedom. He said that in the novel, this has been mentioned in the end notes. He said that a man’s story has been made fun of in the novel and film. He wrote, “I am ashamed to have wasted my time reading this novel when I know that this literary circus company has made this sales pitch on an anti-human and anti-animal thing that will never happen in a human’s life."
Hareesh also showed sympathy to the real Najeeb Mohammed and apologised on behalf of everyone for making fun of his real life. He added that the man should be given crores of rupees for having faced such a situation.
