Veteran Telugu actress Jayalalitha dominated the headlines as she visited the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple on February 1. This is one of the most revered temples located in the hill town of Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. On February 1, she gained entry into the temple via the VIP break darshan and paid her respects to Lord Venkateswara, a manifestation of Vishnu. Post the darshan, the Vedic scholars gave Jayalalitha the Veda Ashirvachanam (a form of prasadam) in the mandapam of the temple. Tirumala temple authorities also honoured Jayalalitha with silk robes.

Jayalalitha has played the role of a character artist in more than 650 films. Not only the character roles, she also played villainous characters and won accolades from the audience. Jayalalitha is also gaining a massive fanbase by showing her acting prowess in many daily soaps as well.

Not only Jayalalitha, but many other dignitaries also took part in the VIP break of the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple. These dignitaries were Telangana MLAs Adinarayana Jare, Pilot Rohit Reddy, and Telangana State Election Commissioner C Parthasarathi. Tirupati MP Gurumurthy also visited the temple and paid his respects to Sri Venkateswara Swami. Post the darshan, they were also honoured with Veda Ashirvachanam and silk robes. MLA Adinarayana Jare campaigned for the Congress outside the temple premises. Jare said that the Congress will emerge victorious in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Jare opined that Congress will depict a good electoral performance in the Andhra Pradesh elections.

Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple is one of the most visited sites in Tamil Nadu. In December 2023, many pilgrims flocked to the temple even after the devastating Cyclone Michaung. The roads leading to the temple were significantly impacted by Michaung. The aftermath of heavy rains had unveiled a picturesque landscape, shrouded in mist, with lush green arches around the seven high hills surrounding the temple. The region’s natural beauty was further enhanced by the emergence of waterfalls in the forested areas and high hills.

The aftermath of Cyclone Michaung also brought an unusual drop in temperature to Tirumala. It resulted in three days of extreme cold.
