HBO has planned a three-season arc for the series, which is set about a century before Game of Thrones. The first season will have six episodes, informs IGN.
Sarah Adina Smith, known for Lessons In Chemistry, will direct three of the six episodes in the first season, while executive producer Owen Harris will direct the remaining episodes. The series is written and executive produced by Martin and Ira Parker, with Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris and Sarah Bradshaw also serving as executive producers.
“Before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros… a young, naïve but brave knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in a time when the Targaryen dynasty still rules the Iron Throne, and the last dragon is not yet a distant memory, these remarkable friends will face grand destinies, formidable adversaries, and perilous adventures,” reads the official synopsis for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Apart from Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, the upcoming drama series will also have Finn Bennett as Aerion Brightflame Targaryen and Bertie Carvel as Baelor Breakspear Targaryen. Other key characters will include Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon and Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon.
