Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are one of the most loved real-life as well as reel couples in Bollywood. Together, they have delivered multiple hits including Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. While their on-screen pairing is a big hit among the audiences, Ranveer had once revealed that Deepika wasn’t a big fan of their chemistry.
Speaking to Filmfare, Ranveer had said in 2015, “Deepika is going through her golden period. I had the privilege to act in such close tandem with her in Bajirao Mastani. We have intense romantic scenes together, but Deepika does not think so. However, I think our chemistry is extra special. Deepika feels I look better with Anushka (Sharma) and she looks better with Ranbir Kapoor. I am not of that opinion; I have a point to prove to her on that.”
Interestingly, director Imtiaz Ali, who worked with Deepika and Ranbir in ‘Tamasha’, recently spoke about the duo’s passion for acting with each other. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Imtiaz discussed the deeply emotional climax of Tamasha wherein Ranbir’s Ved bows down to Deepika’s Tara and kisses her as a thank you for saving his life.
Talking about shooting that scene, Imtiaz told us, “We were shooting this at a studio. It was a stage that we created and lot of work had happened but this frame where he would enter from a certain place and he would enter from another place and they would be looking at each other from a very close distance. It’s a very difficult shot for actors to play because you are seeing them so close and one can’t formulate exactly what your reaction will be when you come so close to another person who belongs to the gender you are attracted to. It was a warm experience for all of us to watch.”
Imtiaz Ali, however, added, “People feel that these people (Ranbir and Deepika) had an affair with each other, but beyond that for life of an actor, there is a love for performing with each other, which is very important and significant. You might love to act with each other also and these two actors have that. They have the love for acting with each other. That showed in that frame.”
