Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opted to bowl first against Sri Lanka in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 contest in New Delhi on Monday.
Bangladesh have made one change to their playing XI with unfit Mustafizur Rahman ruled out and replaced by Tanzim Shakib.
Sri Lanka have made two changes as they have benched Dimuth Karunaratne and Dushan Hemantha. They have included Kusal Perera and Dhananjaya de Silva in the elven as replacements.

“There are a lot of expectations but we couldn’t meet them. We have two more games and we would like to do well. We have to be technically sound and also mentally strong,” Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said at the toss.
Bangladesh are already out from the semi-finals contention but Sri Lanka are mathematically in and they not only need to win both their remaining matches but win by handsome margins to boost their net run rate as well.
What both the teams will be targeting now is to make sure they finish among the top-eight of the standings which will help them qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Bangladesh have won just one of their seven matches so far which came against Afghanistan last month in what was their tournament opener. Since then they have suffered six defeats in a row including to the Netherlands.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka bounced back with two wins in a row after a hat-trick of defeats to begin their campaign. However, plagued by injuries and inconsistency, the former champions crashed two two more defeats including a mammoth 302-run thrashing from hosts India.
