CLAT 2024: Candidates who have successfully cleared the exam can now participate in the admissions counselling process per the rank list and the admissions matrix provided by each NLU

Registrations for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024 counselling process have begun today, December 11 and will close at 10 PM on December 20. The exam is held for admissions to the five-year integrated Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programmes commencing in the academic year 2024-2025 at participating National Law Universities (NLU). The results have been released on Dec 10 which saw a male student from Rajasthan securing the top rank in the exam.

Candidates who have successfully cleared the exam can now participate in the admissions counselling process per the rank list and the admissions matrix provided by each NLU. To secure a seat, candidates from the general category will have to pay Rs 30,000. Candidates from the ST, SC, OBC, BC, EWS, and PWD categories are required to pay Rs 20,000.

Eligible candidates will receive an email invitation to participate in the Admissions Counselling Process at their registered email address, the official notice stated. An SMS will also be sent to the student’s registered mobile numbers and an invitation on their CLAT 2024 portal. Candidates must log in to their CLAT account on the website of the Consortium of NLUs and validate that they have been invited for counselling during each round.

The official notice further added that candidates who have not been allotted a seat in any round of the admissions counselling process may be allotted a seat during subsequent rounds against any vacancies that open up in a particular category.

Candidates who are allotted a seat at any NLU may exercise any of the ‘Freeze’, ‘Float’, or ‘Exit’ options in a counselling round. The ‘Float’ option will expire after the fourth round of counselling. It will not be available for the fifth and final round of counselling, and the last allotted seat will be considered final. At that point, candidates will have to choose to either “Freeze” or “Exit” the admissions counselling process.

The first seat allotment list will be released on Dec 26 at 10 am, the second seat on Jan 8 and the third seat allotment list on Jan 22. The fourth seat allotment list will be declared on May 20 and the fifth and final one on May 28.
