England are set to square off against Pakistan in their last 2023 World Cup fixture at Eden Gardens on November 11. A place for the semi-final is on the line for Pakistan but they have to beat England by 287 runs to reach the next round. The match is equally important from England’s perspective as the defending champions need to secure a place among the top seven in the points table to earn qualification for the 2025 Champions Trophy, scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan. After going through a lean patch for a long period, England finally returned to winning ways in the last game, beating the Netherlands by 160 runs.
Pakistan were looking good in the initial stages of the tournament saw them beat a returning Netherlands side before defeating Sri Lanka next. Their first loss came against India who beat the side by seven wickets in Ahmedabad. They are currently placed below New Zealand and it would take a huge win for the Asian side to move up the table and above the Black Caps.
