'Every One of The Batsmen Will Have a Game Plan': Rahul Dravid Ahead of Challenging South Africa Tests
Rahul Dravid said that every batter has their game plan ready for the Proteas conditions but they need to have clarity about it.

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid feels that the upcoming two-match Test series won’t be easy for the Indian batters as South Africa is a challenging place to bat on. India have not won a Test series thus far in South Africa and once again it is going to be a tough task for the Asian Giants to end the drought.

The BCCI recently extended Rahul Dravid’s contract as the Team India head coach as the Proteas Test is going to be the first big challenge for him. He was also the coach of the Indian team when India last toured South Africa in 2021-22 which ended in 2-1 in the hosts’ favour.

Dravid said that every batter has their game plan ready for the Proteas conditions but they need to have clarity about it.

“So, it is a challenging place to bat; the statistics will tell you that. It is one of the more difficult places to bat in, especially up here in Centurion and Johannesburg. The wickets do tend to do a bit, and they tend to get up and down as well. Every one of the batsmen will have a game plan as to how they want to go, as long as they are clear about it and they commit to it and are practicing towards that, that’s fine,” Dravid told Star Sports.

The focus will be on the two Test matches, which are part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle even as ODIs and T20s are part of the full tour.

Dravid further said that the players need to make match-winning contributions on the Proteas tour.

“We don’t expect everyone to play in the same way. We want them to be very clear about what works for them, and then be able to execute that. The boys, once they get out there, a lot of it is mental, and I guess, you know, we try and stress on the fact that if we do get going, if we get the opportunity to get set, they try to make it a match-winning contribution,” he added.
