Veteran South Africa spinner Imran Tahir hailed KL Rahul’s brilliant century against Netherlands and suggested that it’s difficult to bowl him in the death overs considering the variety of shots he can play. Rahul scored the fastest century by an Indian in the ODI World Cups – 62 balls. It was also his second century in World Cups and first in the ongoing edition.
The flamboyant batter put his foot on the accelerator in the death overs and smashed the Dutch bowlers all around the park to help India cross the 400-run mark.

Rahul was facing a lot of criticism in the first half of 2023 but made a sensational comeback after a long injury lay-off and has been in sensational form since his return to the side.
Tahir suggested that the wicketkeeper batter has made some corrections in his batting and now emerged as a proper player.
“He used to play a lot of shots earlier but he has done some corrections and become a proper player. However, the last part of his innings we saw, especially the no-look shot he played and the way he middles the ball, I feel he is an extremely good player,” Tahir told Star Sports.
The veteran spinner also talked about the wide range of shots Rahul has in his arsenal.
“It’s extremely difficult to bowl to such players, especially in the death overs. He can play the cut, hit over mid-on, mid-off and midwicket, and scoop the ball as well. He played a wonderful innings,” he added.
During the same discussion, former Aussie skipper Aaron Finch also talked highly of his incredible knock and pointed out that he was right on the money from the word go.
“The way that he started was the most impressive thing. Sometimes he likes to take a few balls to get into his innings but he was right on from the start today, and especially on the back of that start from Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli,” he added.
Finch also suggested that the centuries from Rahul and Shreyas Iyer indicated that India are ready to go all the way in the tournament.
“That’s exactly what India needed. I think to win the tournament, that middle order has to be prepared to put the foot down a little bit earlier, and between KL (Rahul) and Shreyas (Iyer) today, that was unbelievable batting.”
