Australian power-hitter Glenn Maxwell has finally wrapped up a two-month-long tour of India. It was certainly a worth-remembering trip for Maxwell, who played a key role in Australia’s triumphant run in the recently concluded ODI World Cup.
After completing the multi-nation tournament, Maxwell featured in a couple of T20Is against India. Though two more matches of the five-match series are yet to be played, Maxwell has decided to return to his homeland.
While breaking the news of his return, the Aussie all-rounder wrote on Instagram, “It’s time to go home. Thank you India, it’s been a memorable tour.”

Apart from a lot of fans, Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman reacted to the post. Dropping a hilarious comment, Raman reminded the cricketer of his next challenge to serve the responsibilities of a father. She feels this is the time for Maxwell to swipe his bat with a feeding bottle as he needs to take care of his newborn child, Logan Maverick Maxwell, after reaching home.
The couple was blessed with a baby boy earlier in September, only a month before Maxwell would jet off to India for the World Cup campaign. When Raman announced her pregnancy on social media, Maxwell was in India to represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Despite being in his late 30s, Glenn Maxwell is still capable of changing the course of the game singlehandedly in any format. He could prove the point multiple times during the India tour. Maxwell notched a match-winning double-century during a World Cup league game against Afghanistan.
Australia went seven wickets down at 91 runs when Maxwell joined hands with captain Pat Cummins to begin the rescue operation. En route to his unbeaten 201-run knock, Maxwell whacked as many as 21 boundaries and 10 maximums. Riding on his blistering innings, Australia secured a three-wicket victory in the crucial fixture.
Maxwell replicated his devastating form once again during the third T20I against India. Coming to chase a mammoth 223-run target, Australia faced a collapse in the top order. That’s when Maxwell took over the charge and put up a blistering show. He slammed eight fours and as many sixes to score 104 runs off just 48 balls. With the centurion innings, Maxwell secured the record of scoring the most T20I hundreds while chasing. Thanks to his contribution, Australia won the match by five wickets.
